This compression/squishing seems to be a lot more "work" on Blizzard's end, but if this became the new normal, then they should be able to expedite the process and develop workflows for it. So the question/discussion is, would you like to see the next expansion in WoW reset to 50 again and advance to 60? Or simply advance from 60 to 70. They just see a very high number and get put off. You could say that in BfA it really didn't take that much longer to level from 1 to 120, but c'mon, they're new players. We'll also note here that level 60 feels more attainable to new players, and therefore, is more attractive and healthier for the game overall. Not that it is an inherently bad thing, it's just that the numbers become astronomical for the sake of being astronomical and look strange. Looking at tanks in BFA with HP approaching 1 million. It just feels so much better to get a big crit (~10K+) than it feels to get a big crit in the hundreds of thousands in some of the more recent expansions. If not only for the numerical simplicity or "watering down".
